1964D-D/D east ?

    It looks to me to be an extra "D" to the left of the original. What do you guys think?;)

    I don't think so, but not I'm not an expert. Don't throw it back yet.

    The main part that sticks out to me is the serifs

    I don't see anything to indicate it, but the left side is in the shadows it seems. If you take another photo, try rotating the coin or light, so it comes from the left side of the mint mark at a lower angle , thus serif separations on lines can be seen easier.

    Well if it's west you mean No there are no split images.


    I just think it;s a form of die deterioration .I do see indications of die wear around the fields of the MM a orange peel effect.

    Ok, do you mean the appearance of a completely separated D shape to the west? If so, no on that also, as the shape is not close enough and is just random appearance IMO.
