Wasn't it the Chief who previously bought 100 Tyler rolls? Or was that someone else. I'm just trying to keep up. :smile I'm planning to flip a few on Ebay.
Buy,cancel,buy,cancel,buy......ended up with 60 rolls total. I'm still trying to figure out why the Harrisons did so much better than these....I'll sell all 60 rolls and use the profit to buy that 1795 Large Cent down at the old coin shop....:eating:
I ordered 2 rolls of the P's yesterday and they are in stock. I ordered 2 rolls of the D's today and they are in backorder. I think Elaine has cleaned them out.
both mint mark were sold out. tyler dollar mint roll mintage remain the same with that of harrison dollar 30,000. but the tyler dollar total mintage is lower than harrison. so the tyler mint roll should go up its price to that of harrison or even higher. 88,760,000 for tyler and 98,420,000 for harrison. see tyler mint roll to reach $200.00 or more soon.
So, here are my questions: Plat: flipping ia "few" on ebay? A lot? A little? If a little what are you going to do with the rest? Chief: are you going to sell all 60 on ebay? I'm asking because I can't help but think that if someone's trying to move 60 of them, that's going to depress the price a good deal, don't you think? Unless you're going to sell them in lots of 10 at a time? Yeah -- me, too, but I have a theory: My theory is that when the Harrisons sold out, it caught everybody by surprise -- so those that wanted to purchase were forced to get them from the secondary market; and the sellers didn't hoard because they had no idea prices would go so high. With the Tylers, people were prepared: sellers hoarded, and collectors purchased early so they wouldn't be caught empty handed. Well, that's my theory anyway. I *think* -- although I have to check -- the same thing (on a smaller scale) happened with the DC Quarter sets and the PR Quarter sets. The former are selling for higher than the latter -- again, because I think the quick sell out of DC caught some people by surprise, and they were ready when PR sold out. (And I know, because I see the DC prices, and I've been having a hard time moving the PR roll sets!) So, to sum up: 1. Thoughts on my theory? 2. How can you sell so many on Ebay without depressing your own price (or are you selling them elsewhere) Thanks! Just trying to learn!
I'm not looking to make much off these. I'll list mine with the lowest BIN on Ebay and list them in small lots. Lots of people ask too much for these. I saw where 1 seller wanted $450 for a roll of each (P/D).....he ended up at $225 and they still didn't sell. My 16 previous rolls sold within 24 hours of listing.....averaged about $30 profit per roll. Not bad but not like the Harrisons.... The "P"s did better than the "D"s on both the Harrisons and the Tylers. Go figure ??????
well . . . they had some left at the Mint Stores -- 8 P's and 6 D's. So, I got 'em all. I sure hope you guys know what I'm doing! Or should I just change my middle name to Lemming?
I might have. There was one roll on display at the kiosk -- since it was out of the box, I didn't get it. They said it was their last roll. So, as of 11:30 am it was there. But no more boxes there, or at the 9th st store. I asked them again if they knew what was up with the sold out/not sold out bit -- as usual, zero useful information.
tyler mintage is lower than harrison. but harrison price is higher. guam mintage is much lower than puerto rico. both prices did not go up. dime and nickel prices should remain high. unless the mint start produce it again. but why the kennedy half at 1,700,000 mintage and its price can not move?.
My theory, is that these aren't circulated. Why not try it again? Get people used to seeing them and they might collect them....
But you can't use them in vending machine or parking meters . . . it's by far the heaviest coin we have, and people don't like carrying heavy change in their pockets. Plainly put -- I think people can do fine (actually, they _do_ do fine) with no denomination between the quarter and the dollar.
Reminds me....I recently purchased a couple of items at Taco Bell using a 2 dollar bill, a Thomas Jefferson dollar and a Kennedy half.........I got a strange look. LOL
