Do you like this forum? Howdy all...that is a big question...do you like to learn...do you like to help others learn....do you like the friends you have made at this forum? If so let me draw you eyes to the main page almost to the bottom over on the left hand side there is an icon with the words PayPal and over top of that Support CoinTalk ---you can help the forum to stay online and running just like it is now by supporting CT...its just like buying a coin...but much better...you may buy a coin and then have it to talk about...or you can support CT and be able to talk about MANY coins with MANY collectors. Don't consider this begging for money, just sharing an idea--I've been on this forum for a few years and it just hit me this year that I needed to do my part! Just think about it...it just makes "cents" to support CT. Speedy
A speedy first response to this "new" post. No. All I have made at this forum are some coin "fiends." But, hope dies last... As of today, Sept. 26, 2017, I see, there are 43,760 registered members at CT. CT, don't you have $437,59? (don't count Erol, he is foreign, from planet x of galaxy y.)
Unlike any other rational member, I don't know what you did to yourself but you did it. I love this forum and I truly would if I could or had the money in a couple years it might be different because I might have a paypal and the money. Thanks, Jacob
That post is 12 years old. The interface probably changed. you now find it by clicking on your name at the top right. It is under Account Upgrades.
No, this has more to do with the fact that the initial topic -- oops, see sakata's reply. The direct link is: https://www.cointalk.com/account/upgrades
I recently became a CoinTalk supporter, but I don't see the "supporter" banner under my Avatar like I do other members (like sakata, for example). Does the forum just not show that to me, or is there something I have to configure to turn on that banner?
It has indeed, in fact it's changed quite a few times since then. Not only has the format and layout of the forum changed, but so has the software that runs it. But just to give you a little background, when Speedy made that post he was 16 years old and he'd been involved with coins for quite a few years by then and was already researching and writing articles on coins. He was also a CT moderator at that time. Since then he's married, started his own family, and if memory serves started his own business.
He was 16 years old? and he was already doing researches and writing articles on coins? It seems that he was a matured one. Now that he's married, probably busy with his family, with living costs, etc., he too probably racked his brain like anyone. Anyway, he is still young, 28 years old now, to make some more "cents". Ps: I didn't know what "Supporter" in Avatars meant. Ok, one day, I too will be a Supporter if Peter does have the cent in his pocket.
I became a supporter a while ago, just felt like I wanted to chip in and help keep this forum running. I enjoy it a lot and certainly learn a lot here. Also get to meet some very interesting people! Just now, as I type this, I notice to the left is my current avatar and a small red banner with a mug of beer and the words "BEER LOVER". I recall somewhere sometime seeing the word 'Supporter' in that area as well.
I guess, Mr Peter too has learnt a lot from 43,770 members (as of today), but, he has not given a one cent yet to any member including his employee and moderators. He must be a poor one who does not have $437,69. (again, don't count erol, he's far away, from planet y of galaxy x.)
I was fully aware of what I was saying, not lost in any weeds and certainly nowhere on the left of anything. It was my impression that this thread had to do with people parting with a wee bit of their pocket change to help support the forum. I had an idea that the extra words to the south of Mr. Owl would suddenly appear once I posted the reply, and sure enough, they did. This site runs really well.
Below the "Beer Lover" (you can change that "mood" by clicking on it, then just choose a different one) it says "Supporter!" That is the custom title you picked. And right below that there is that green "Supporter" badge. Christian
Coin Talk is Peter's site, and there are no employed helpers here. Doug (admin) and we moderators, we're all volunteers. Unfortunately such a forum site costs money, for the hosting, the software, etc. Some members contribute to that financially, which is great, others do not but keep the place alive by making interesting posts, which is great too - but our rather passive members who post hardly anything are also welcome of course. Christian
I have been a supporter on more than one occasion, when my financial life allowed it. For the last couple of years, it hasn't and I have become one of the cast of thousands. This site is well worth supporting and I plan to be a supporter again some time soon, when circumstances allow.
