    Hippieman556,
    roll of cents = .50
    roll of nickels = 2.00
    roll of dimes = 5.00
    roll of quarters = 10.00
    roll of halves = 10.00

Just ask your bank for however many rolls you can afford.
If you want boxes of each, they usually are 50 rolls of each, but your bank may have to order them for you. Especially half dollars, most banks do not stock them.
Sometime you get lucky and some one turns in some rolls of halves.

Others may disagree, but some of us feel that customer rolled coins have the best finds.
It basically comes down to luck, persistence and searching alot of rolls.
    Good luck!

Hippiman, an important thing is to take back the coins after you search them, to a DIFFERENT bank than the one you got them from. That way (hopefully), you won't encounter too many coins you've already been through.

Yes, of course! But the thing is that I'm not sure there is anything like "roll searching"....at least I never heard of anyone doing that when I was home for so many yrs! But then that time I wasn't into this hobby...may be I'll find out once I get there. :)

Else I can always keep a lookout for nice coins in circulation

agreed, seeing others finds is motivational...like we need any encouragement!

after searching 12,500 pennies in 3.5 hours and getting only wheaties (earliest 1918!) and one steelie, best friend turned in $80 worth of pennies at a coin counter at a bank we found that had one...and jammed the machine seven times! ha ha ha. i think the jig was up when one of the jams was caused by some paper from the paper that keeps the pennies in a roll that found its way in there...busted. ha.

i think we were so excited by the indian head we failed to realize that it is a pretty rare occurrence to find one in circulation and now are kind of disappointed that after going through 12,500 pennies we didnt find another!

Yes, it does. Just walk into a bank and ask for rolls of whatever denomination you want. I bought quite a few rolls from a bank in Canada when I visited in 2005 and found nickels and pennies dating to the 1940's. Nothing too old in the dimes and quarters but such results aren't much different than searching rolls from the United States for those denominations as well.

My in-laws are cruising the Alaskan Highway through Canada so I gave them $30 and told them to get me some bank rolls to fill holes in my meager Canadian collection.

Just searched 7 rolls of pennies:

    5 2009D log splitters
    4 2009P log cabins
    1 1952 Wheat
    1 beautiful 1963 penny

    Good night.
