I agree 100% with you guys I would rather have a VF 25 coin with VF 25 detail, than a VF25 with XF45 detail with damage

    Top note for sure.
'Cause I'd hate looking at that folded, dirty note and wish I'd have bought the repaired not instead, for the same money. I'm pretty sure I'd not have the same regret if I'd bought the repaired note - wishing that I'd have bought that dirty folded note.
Not that there's anything wrong with the bottom note, but for the money, I'd pay for the repaired note instead. I also don't see why anyone would pay more for the bottom note than the top one, especially if it's 'almost invisible' to the eye. Sure it had a defect, but it was 'fixed'. Im my opinion, the bottom note has a much more severe defect.
Were it all up to me, I'd have the top note graded as XF with a special designation for repairs instead of lowering the grade as the current grading companies do.

No Offense taken! Actually I now agree with you!
I was remembering that someone said that these notes were given a hit of one full grade for internal repairs, and I was meaning that I would prefer that they do not fall a grade, but be given the repair designation.

But then again, I'm not a stickler on the 70 point grading system. Especially as I am primarily a world note collector, and there are several countries issues that would never meet that 70 grade - or even a 60 for that matter! THis is due to inherent problems with types of paper and handling methods used at the printer. But that's another post altogether!

Now I really understand and see the difference with the different grades,I am not buying for investment purposes but just for the beauty and the history that goes with the different notes.I really couldn't spend that much on a note. Thanks for helping out RB

Thanks for taking no offense...I have this note in AU..there are a lot of things about this note to consider.
Margins, corners, color, detail, and all the other things notes are looked at for. That repaired note has some pretty heavy handling on it as well...

    Again..just my opinion..LOL
I am glad I bought mine when I did..AU prices are going up on these!

I think this is the wisest statement in the whole thread and it should be listened to. I fully agree with Rickie.

So....if you all were buying a car, you'd pick a dented up rust bucket over a car which had some bodywork and repairs done? ;)

at the same price point.. i would take the repaired car :)

but then, my cars are not for investment or later selling :D

and neither are my notes. So if anyone cares more about the resale value... absolutely follow RickieB's advice :)

Now dursin...with that analogy, you must be in Sales...LOL
Are you the type that says oh yea a little ole lady from LA drove this car in today...clean little beauty huh? But under all that bondo lies a ticking timebomb!

Shame on you...LOL  :smile :smile

No, I'm talking about a quality car with perhaps a small dent hammered out and repainted over buying the same car with all 4 quarter panels dented in and the muffler dragging on the ground. ;)

At the same price point and given the choice, I think I'd always take the note that has better eye appeal to me unless it was really dramatically altered.

You see... thats what I mean..each collector/investor has their own opinion.
I certainly see your side, but would hardly venture over to it in that situation.

When it comes to banknotes my personal goals are set, therefore, my opinion and my buying habits. Each of us has to establish these for ourselves, no one can do it for us.

So it is with personal opinion and affordability in which we make the ultimate decision, the OP will share those same shoes.

Good luck RJ in whatever decision you make. I hope you enjoyed the link I sent you? And remember our deal. :smile
