Thought I'd post about this. The shop I work at has a Tombstone note for sale for $20...no joke. It's about the most pathetic thing you could ever imagine. Lots of old scotch tape on the back...without it, the note would be in a few pieces. Very limp...looks like a mouse chewed around the edges. That being said, it's a scarce note. Thought about dropping $20 just to say I have one, but I didn't because it's so nasty. Sorry no pics. Here is an ebay link if you don't know which note I'm referring to. http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-293-10-TOMBSTONE-NOTE-WITH-THE-LARGE-RED-SEAL_W0QQitemZ250438405893QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a4f4acf05&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 Would you have bought it? Just curious.
Twenty Buck's....:crying: :crying: :crying: Hummmm I have one of those in my sights! They are unique and rather expensive to boot! RickieB
i would have bought it in a heartbeat! i own a note already thats in a much better grade, but even still.. any large sized note i would by at that price... just cant be beat on most of them!!!
Even in it's beat up condition I'd have bought it for 20 also...I mean the one in the auction you posted is trying to be sold for 100 times that amount.
I probably would have bought it. $20 doesn't buy much these days and it would be a nice filler until I could afford something nicer.
Meh...maybe I'll get it. We put it out yesterday and I go back to work again tomorrow. Currency moves VERY slowly at that store, so I'm pretty sure it'll still be there. When I was a kid, I had a bad habit of buying really ratty notes and AG coins. As I've gotten older, I've raised my standards. Instead of getting 10 junky coins, I'll put that money into one nice one. That kind of thing. Maybe I'll have to make an exception for this note. I'll post a picture if it's still there tomorrow.
I've turned down some pretty ratty notes in my time and bought a few as well. Have kept some pretty horrible stuff out of circulation as well if it's rare enough. Tough note and may be worth the $20. clembo
Buy it! worst case scenerio there are a half dozen people right here that will give you your money back Richard
