Does anybody know of any books or websites, with pictures of official sets released by mints of the European Union members? I am looking for pictures of the uncirculated sets not the individual coins. I am looking to buy some sets, but I would like to purchase the official sets and avoid set created by private individuals or businesses.
I don't know how official these sets may be, but they are sets, going back to the beginning. I don't know if my other favorite Euro site has any set information, but you may want to look it over too.
Here is a list of such sets - not quite up to date when it comes to recent sets but pretty comprehensive otherwise: http://www.euromuenzensammeln.de/kms/index.htm Now whether the various "theme sets" issued and packed by German mints, for example, can be considered official sets or not comes close to a philosophical question ;-) Christian
Official Euro Sets I use these site as a guide when purchasing my Euro sets: http://www.eurocoins.liesemeijer.com/ Look under Mint Sets http://www.catalogoeuro.net/more/estuches.php Good luck.
Since s/he joined almost two years ago, and has posted this one message since then ... Anyway, for people who collect such sets, official or not, this list may be interesting: http://www.emuenzen.de/pappensammlerbuch/liste.htm "Pappensammler" is a somewhat ironic term for people who collect "cardboard" (here: such coin sets). The list accompanies/updates this book: http://web.utanet.at/ludwigg3/buch.pdf (These are PDF "excerpts"; the full printed thing costs about €20.) Christian
