I just got this at an estate auction and am new to coins. I have been collecting Morgans here or there if I come across a cheap one for the fun of it, but I found this at an estate auction and thought it was interesting. Just wanted to see what you all think it grades, thanks for your input.

Looks VF-30 to 35 to my eye. Interesting streaks on the obverse.

I think it might have been cleaned at one time... And I think it would grade at VF35.
It might be a EF40 if the clasp had less wear, and the word united was not faint.
I'd be interested in knowing what you paid for it?

I was afraid it had been cleaned, I do not even know that much and I thought so, which means I probably paid way to much for it....$175 what would you say it is worth.

    Knowledge is priceless.

Don't feel bad, there were others who underbid you and thought that it was also worth a lot.

    Just study.

Don't feel too bad about over paying for a coin
I think we have all been beginners before in this hobby, and have all overpaid... And even collectors who have been collecting for a long time have overpaid, so don't sweat it!
Just get books on bust halves, and the bust series, and study them like frank said
You can never know too much in this hobby
