Can anyone tell me if it is common for the 1996 D Kennedy Halves to have no reeded edge or a very weak reeded edge. I have seen two of these recently when searching. Sorry for no pictures but I am at work.

    Thanks

Slot machine coin is my guess. Obv and Rev look ok and the rim... gone.

I agree - Halves used in slot machines quickly lose their reeding.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. Just weird to see.

Also, circulation can wear away the reeding. I have a 1994-D Kennedy Half that I have carried as a pocketpiece for 15 years and the reeding completely wore away years ago.

Here in Memphis we are very close to a large casino and resort and it is nearly impossible to find a half dollar that has any good reeding left on it ...ding...ding..ding
But now they no longer use 'real' half dollars at most all of the casinos
