Just a couple here not worth a heck of a lot but pretty enough I think to show and tell. The West one is Cu-Ni, of course, and the East is Zn. Well, OK, maybe you can give me some grades and retail values on these, too (as long as you dropped in). Thanks! :)

I would say that they were in VF condition , it is a bit hard to say too much as the pics are a bit blurry when blown up, but they are lovely examples :hail:

I am thinking more on the lines of XF(both). Neat coins! I recently bought a 1957 penny. I didn't realize that British West Africa had Edward VIII coins. I am going to have to look more into that.:D Anything with Edward VIII I enjoy. It must have something to do with him being king for less than a year. He abdicated the throne because of his love of a divorced American. Besides he was too much of a party animal.:D

    Very attractive coins.

I too recently became interested in Edward VIII coins but haven't acquired any yet. As I understand it, since he abdicated before 1936 was out, there were no official coins with his profile, although some (like yours) without profile.

There are, however, some pattern "fantasy" coins stuck in the 1950's (Geoffrey Hearn series) and some later that used the pattern dies (for the reverse) that would have been used had he remained in power. The "coins" have Edward's left-facing (out of sequence) profile, are dated 1936, and, were produced in a number of versions representing various British colonies or commonwealths. I'm thinking of collecting them as novelties because they have an interesting story behind them. Most I've seen, however, on eBay are ripoffs (no surprise!) and are often loosely represented as official coinage or sovereigns.

Retail value? heh.. I don't know, a couple quid to the right person each. I'd say.
