I think "optimistic" is definitely the right word for Julian.

Great coins in this thread - I really like the VOT types.

Since I'm a bit insomniac tonight, I thought I'd troll through my collection and see what shakes out. I had more than I thought!

Huh. The site seems to have gone down while I was working on this...so the insomnia was cured by a couple hours of zzzzs. Anyway:

A dupondius of Antoninus Pius...need an upgrade on this for sure:
Antoninus Pius - Dupond VOTA Feb 2020 (0).jpg
    Antoninus Pius Æ Dupondius

    Rome Mint

    RIC 1020; BMCRE 2075.
    (9.25 grams / 24 mm)

From late in Commodus' reign, a VOTA type denarius. According to FORVM, the reverse inscription means: "VOTA SOLV PRO SAL P R Latin abbreviation: Vota soluta pro Salute Populi Romani - Vows (prayers) paid (completed) for saving the Roman People." https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=VOTA SOLV PRO SAL P R

    Commodus Denarius
    (191-192 A.D.)
    Rome Mint

L AEL AVREL COMM AVG P FEL, laureate head right / VOTA SOLV PRO SAL PR, Commodus standing left, sacrificing out of a patera over tripod altar, prostrate bull left
    RIC 262; RSC 984; Sear 5725.
    (2.60 grams / 17 mm)

Another Commodus VOTA, this time a sestertius:

    Rome Mint

M COMMODVS ANTON AV[G PIVS BRIT], laureate head right / VOTA SVS[CEP

My only Decentius is a VOT type:

This is awful, but if I am reading it right, it is a "not in RIC"...or maybe it is wishful thinking. Crispus, very worn:

    Crispus Æ 22
    (319 A.D.)
    Siscia Mint

I was going through some coins this morning that I put away many, many years ago and came across this votive issue of Constantine. I think I put it away because I thought I'd find a better one. Didn't happen. Did a quick search and couldn't find any example on this site .... so here it is:

    Constantine Ae3, Rome mint
Obv: CONSTANTINVS AVG; Helmeted bust right
Rev: VOT X / ET XV F / RQ; all within wreath
    Ref: RIC 207
    Constantine VOT X ET XV F 1a.jpg
