Will this one slab?

    RLM,

Have you thoroughly checked the coin for the 1910 Matte Proof diagnostics? The reason I ask is because I can see some Die Polish marks on the Obverse and Reverse that appear similar to the one's on the Matte Proofs. Also, it is hard to really see but is that not a Die Scratch extending downward from the inside of the right leg of the "M" in UNUM towards the "E" in ONE?

    By the way, beautiful coin!

I don't have the diagnostics to check for proof, but I can see some orange peel in the fields. From what I have learned, that is the kiss of death for a proof.

BTW, thank you all for you comments.

    RLM,

Below is a link to diagnostics for the 1910 MPL on the Collector's Universe Forum! The diagnostics are towards the top and then scroll down and over for the very large pics.

TY, but the only diagnostic that my coin has is the square rims. Nothing else agrees.

Now, how about this one. The 1910 needs some company going to be slabbed. Again, the coin is a little brighter in hand.

The Die Markers are not always identical on all of the 1910 MPL depending on the Die Stage! Therefore, when you send it in for grading, note "Matte Proof??" in the remarks block. The graders will check the coin for any Die Markers and even it isn't a Matte Proof, there is no extra cost that I know of. Who knows, you might come out a winner!

Those photos just confuse me. I have no idea which way this one will go.

The '33-D I would say solid 65. The TPG's may well go 66 but the coin has few too many small hits for me to go that high.

Those are exactly my feelings. I was hoping to tip it one way or the other. 65 is not worth it. 66 I would consider mostly because of the colors.

I think they will slab it, i just think it;s the beginning of it's natural toning process. The coin has good detail i would give it a plus. I would have to agree with GD ,give the 33D a MS65

    YES, When in hand.

My point is many of the "guess the grade" and " grade this " threads are nothing but Hail Marys, speculation, guesses, and we must really remember that a coin in the hand of a knowledgable " expert " is the only reality we can trust.

post your pics away , it is fun and entertaining, a blast for all of us. But to numericaly and color grade on the internet is nothing more fun and entertainment.

A perfect example of this was Boss's 09-S VDB........looked SOOOO much better in hand. I saw it. I saw the pics here. Huge differance.

Bummer on the 1910! What did the 1933-D came back as or are you still waiting?

I really expected that one to come back corroded. So be it.

I did not send the 33-D in. Maybe I should have, but I figured that I needed a 66 to make it worth while. I thought it was a 65 and no one persuaded me otherwise.
