Hello All, I am a born-again (long story ) coin collector and need some help identifying a US coin. I found a '1861 Confederate States of America Half Dollar' in my collection and am pretty surprised to find such a rare coin. I'm guessing its a fake but can't quite figure it out. Advice from the gurus would really help. I apologize for the pics. I'll work on getting better scans out. Thanks in advance, Morondrill
In all likelihood it's a fake. They only made a couple of them and they are amazingly rare. That said, your pics are pretty fuzzy so I can't get a good look at it. I would say probably 99.99% fake, but clear pictures would let us know for sure. Try using the macro function on your camera.
