I have a 1857 flying eagle cent it appears that its a 7 over 6 but I might be mistaken I was just wondering if anyone herd if any such coin existed. I know the title says 1957 thats a mistake and I dont know how to change it. Its supposed to say 1857

Refer to"Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents" by Richard Snow. On page 58 the 1857 FE cent is discussed. There is a 1857, Type of 1856 and a 1857, Type of 1857. There are close up photo's of the eagle wingtip portion of the coin between OF and AM of America showing the variety, but nothing about variety of dates.

It doesn't look like a 7/6, and I can't find any in a reference. What is the deep grove appearing thing from the eagles tailfeathers to the "7". I think that might be what appears to be a under date.

I think the coin is a very worn coin i don't see anything of significance on this specimen.
