I dont know very much about American coins but am Interested to find the answer to this question: Is the American dollar and the Silver dollar the same coin ?, as I have seen it refered to in both ways. The Silver dollar sounds like a great coin I hope this is not too much of a mundane question lol Tim
There are many types of American Silver dollars; Morgans, Peace, Trade, and then there's the American Silver eagle, which is 1 dollar too.
Welcome to CT no question is too mundane , and your is a good question . As Raider34 said there are Many US dollars , the silver dollars were minted until 1935 , these are worth more than the US dollars made since then , the Eisenhower , Susan .B. Anthony and the now golden dollars all made from base metals . When one refers to a silver dollar they usually mean the ones minteted before 1935 . rzage
Is the american dollar, and silver dollar the same coin? Well... It depends... What you mean by american dollar... Last I checked, a silver dollar, would be an american dollar If you are meaning a paper, $1 bill, vs. a silver dollar, than yes, those are not the same If you mean morgan silver dollar, vs american $1 bill, than yes, those are different They have the same face value, and that is it I don't know if I understand what you mean, in your question
If you have the ' A Guide Book of United States Coins 2009' also known as 'The Redbook' go to page 205. Also the words 'Silver Dollar ' is so popular is because these dollar coin were minted with a composition of at least 90% silver. Peruse through this book, you'll like it.
Thank's Guy's That seems to have answered my question pretty well. It was Coins I was refering to rather than Paper notes Tim
