Hello all, this appears to be a very nice site ! I am a rookie wannabe starting collector. My Mom gave me some of my deceased Dad's coins. One of the coins is a Peace dollar that has a very dull finish to it. It doesn't look like the dull finish on the old Morgans she gave me rather a matte like finish. I have tried to research and came up with many differnet answers online. Who is the Peace dollar expert here who can help me determine what I have ?? Thanks for helping a rookie !
Welcome Jack glad to have you and you will quickly find out that is best to have pictures or reference material when asking questions or making statements on this forum. Again welcome and have fun.
Welcome! yes, photos are needed! And you will probably be told, don't do anything to the surfaces which might damage them, such as trying to clean or brighten the coin. Leave them original for now. Jim
It is a 1922 and has a D mint mark on the back. I took a pic and will try and upload it. It is VERY hard for me to get a good pic Be right back and thank you

They open fine but the pics are little fuzzy. However, you can see the "haze". I'll leave this one to the experts.
I checked the dia and weight and the "ring" so I dont think its a fake, but hey what do I know. It is matte looking though ??? Whos the king pin here on Peace dollars ??
If its been cleaned it was many years ago he has been dead since 1995 and I am 100% sure he wouldn't have cleaned it. It is not shiny its very dull finish ??
Price depends on condition, which cannot be determined based on your pics. But it can vary from $10 to thousands. Based on what we can see I'd say value would likely be melt - about $12 or so.
