Just the grade, boys and girls. Be brutally honest, now (I can take it)... :)

Looks like it still has some mint luster I would have to say MS60, MS61 at best

Really? A lot of luster grazes in those obverse fields. It's got more luster than you think, though, it just doesn't come across in these pics. You think those fields really ruin it that much, though, huh?

I have no idea what happened to the rim on the obverse, but my guess is that it would not get graded due to the damage. If they did grade it, maybe a 62.

But I've seen that that look on these (what appears like a smash). I have others where it's on the face of the coin, and from what I can figger, it appears to have been imparted by the die. Haven't you ever seen that look on these?

I would say 63/64 minimum. Just my opinion.

Good eye, RLM. I didn't see the rim. I would have said 64ish. Nice reverse and the obverse has a bagmark look like Morgans get. Probably have to take different angle photos to see the luster. I think the rim could be from the mint, but can't say I have seen that before or not.

I would say AU55most of the mint luster is left looks like there's wear on the upper cheekbone. The reverse the right stalk is not fully intact either, and left stalk also wear.

Are we looking at the same coin Eddie my friend. Now why does it look worn in these spots, is it the camera shots that through me off.Well by your new pic it looks like full stalks, but not by this shot. The obverse on the upper cheekbone still looks a little worn to me by your pics. The obverse fields also have alot of abrasion marks on them too and possible contact marks which will take the grade down too,I'm just trying to grade the coin the way the grading company might see it.They can be very harsh when it comes to grading.

I still say it;s not an MS coin an Au 55 to me and the mark will take it down alot
Now what do i know anyway.

I do not know. You are the only one who sees the wear. BTW, since when do coins wear immediately NEXT to the high points?

Well apparently the camera shots were bad . I don't see wear on the stalks in Eddies new shots, but it looked like wear from my point of view on his first pics and those are considered the high points of the coin.

I still stand firm on my grade a Au 55 if you really zoom in on the obverse of the coin you will see plenty abrasion marks on the fields a cent with that many marks will not grade a Ms coin. I do belief there is also slight wear on the upper cheekbone. When it even comes to slight wear a grading company will grade it under MS 60 which is AU55 to me

Notice in the pic the red box there;s slight wear on the cheekbone. This coin can very well be a split grade AU55/MS 62 . What I mean the obverse is AU55 due to abrasion markes ,and slight wear on the cheekbones

Reverse is clean fields ,and no wear but the mark will take the reverse grade downto about MS62 now that i see the new pics. The problem with split grade coins the lower grade always wins which is a AU55 coin to me and may make the AU58 grade obverse
    Thanks Joe Just coins:eek:
