I might be able to get pics up later, the coins are a 1994D Multiple Strike lincoln, a 1988D Multiple strike jefferson, a 1985P offcenter washington, and a 19** (after 64) kennedy. Any ideas?
Does anybody have any ideas on the values of these coins and would any of them be worth sending them into be slabbed.
Go to this web site - Click Here - scroll down until you see Inventory - click on it and go from there. Then you decide.
That price was $2000 for a 40% silver 1969 kennedy, yet I know mine is not a 40% silver so would that degrade value (I don't know why it would)?Okay, so should I have that kennedy sent into pcgs? And if I do I have no idea how to do that as I have never done it before so if you guys could give me some advice that would be great. And also how much would it cost? Are any of the other coins of any value?
Wow. That Kennedy half features an off-center strike with a chain-strike on the edge. It would certainly be worth well over $1000. All multi-strikes are worth quite a bit of money. Value would depend on the number of strikes, their position, and whether they're die-struck on both faces or uniface. There are numerous other factors that can affect value. Pictures would help immensely.
just go to pcgs.com and look under "grading" and it will tell you how much it costs, its diffrent amount of money per coin i believe..
Having never seen MikeDiamond start his response with WOW, you must really have something there My education continues.....
First of all, mike what exactly do you want me to get a picture of, Ive got a scan of both sides of the kennedy up a few posts. Also, if I'm sending in one coin, are there any of the other three worth sending in as well? By the way, I appreciate all the help very much!
Ryan - Yes - all the coins have value. The quarter is probably the least value as it is an off center strike - a more common error. But what those values are depend on many things and they could vary greatly. Regardless of that - I wouldn't recommend you send them to PCGS because you have be a member to submit to PCGS - it cost at least $100, I think it's $200 now. If it were me, I would submit the coins to ANACS - anyone can do that. Go to this link for info on how - Click Here
I agree...send them to ANACS...but send them on the 5 day deal...that way you don't have to wait about 3 months to get them back! Speedy
Post pictures of your "1994D Multiple Strike Lincoln" and your "1988D Multiple strike Jefferson". I'm not the person to ask for information on grading services. I never use them. If an error is in any way obscure, complex, subtle, or multiple, you're almost certain to get back a description that is incomplete, inadequate, inaccurate, or hopelessly non-specific. That's been my experience, anyway. However, you're on pretty safe ground with straightforward double and multi-strikes. It's a toss-up whether they would notice the chain strike and include it in the description. Nevertheless, it would be worthwhile having the half dollar slabbed, as there are some excellent counterfeit double-struck half dollars out there. Yours looks genuine, though.
D'oh! Let's see, you've got an off-center quarter, a double-struck nickel (die-struck both faces), and a double-struck cent with a uniface second strike. None of them are worth slabbing. The fees and postage costs will eat up your entire profit margin. Slabbing won't enhance their value very much, either, as these low-value errors are seldom if ever counterfeited. The quarter is worth perhaps $15. The nickel is scratched and may be worth $35. The cent might be worth $40 - $50. Do slab that half dollar, but make sure when you submit it that you mention it has a chain strike along with that off-center strike. A chain strike occurs when two coins or planchets are side-by-side in the striking chamber. When they are struck, the expanding fronts of metal collide and form a straight edge.
... UPDATE! Hello. I've been waiting forever for these coins to come back from ANACS and they're still not here. However, I did call ANACS and they told me the grade of the half I sent in. It is ms63! So, it is real, and it is uncirculated. I will definitely get pics up once it comes in but what do you guys think?
What speed did you send them on???...I don't want to be rude but the 5 day is the best...even if it is a few $$ more. Speedy
... I sent them on the 5 day version. They should be here tomorrow or the next day. But I'm really happy that it is 63, that seems very good.
