Found this while going through the sellers items link

The label says 1987, but the coin is clearly a 1986... and in the picture with both the coin and label, it looks to be like this.

    Any ideas? :eek:dd:

Mistakes happen, especially with bulk submittals. Someone may have submitted a lot of coins and the lables for a couple of coins in that submittal got switched. It is not a big deal and does not make this mislabled slab especially valuable.

I see these labeling errors from time-to-time. They rarely would add any value to a slab, but I suppose it's possible (but not in this particular case.)

And, not that you asked, but that coin is not red; it's red-brown at best. And the copper spots are ugly.

There are error slab collectors so it does have an additional value for being an error slab. I've seen them before, on all TPG's, and I think they are neat but have no desire to own any, unless a 1793 Chain Cent happens to be the coin in the error slab. ;)

    Ribbit :)

Another thing I've noticed is it seems NCS & NGC are more notorious for "getting it wrong" than the other TPG's and here's one from NCS.

I do agree with you on this. This coin is Bavarian, but is marked Hesse-Darmstadt. The Hesse coin sells for twice the price. Some low ball dealers would take advantage of this.

Well I do see this from time to time
I have seen it with PCGS and NGC.
One of my friends, had bought a 1917 D SLQ MS64FH, and it said on the label 1917, and he bought it as a 1917, and sent it back in, and got 1917 D
