recently got this one... don't know a whole lot about grading such early american coinage.. so please help! as far as attribution.. the closest I can guess is that it is an S-234. Is this right? Can anyone tell me about relative rarity of this variety? thanks!
Certainly looks like a 234. The same reverse is shared with the 235 and 236, but I certainly believe it is a 234. Looks like from Heritage it is an high R-3 coin, maybe low R-4 since it is tough to find.
Surprisingly, yes ! At least semi-official. It's a tight-knit group. Not too many have to agree before it becomes "official". The term "scudzy" is used on every quote in the price guide "Copper Quotes by Robinson".
Same answer as on the NGC forum, it's an S-234 early die stage IV, R-3. Attribution information No berry right of the T in CENT S-234, 235, 236, 239 and 240 Point of leaf below center of the upright of D in UNITED S-234, 235, and 236 (On 239 and 240 it's below the curve of the D) Highest wave of the hair is to the left of the R S-234 (on 235 it is below the center of the upright, and on 236 it's below the center of the R)
I went to bed early yesterday and missed out on all the fun. I concur with the attribution and I likes! :eat: Ribbit
