EF45/AU50 Cleaned Everything readable, do see wear, apparent on the breast and the hairlines, lots of chatter on the face, and lots of lines visible due to the cleaning this baby has been through...
I agree it appears to be harshly cleaned, but I would grade it VF35 details. Also is it possible to get a close up of the CC they look a little weird, almost like the CC/CC.
Oh yeah my bad it is a VF35 IMO. I thought it was an O mint for some reason so I assumed the weak strike, but CCs had decent strikes usually.
I don't think this coin is any better than a VF30 details. I agree that is has been harshly cleaned as well. You can't assume that O mint coins are always poorly struck. Sure, many of them are...but there are several years that are typically found well struck. But, 1892-O is not one of them (probably the worst struck coin in the series). However, 1892-CC was a pretty well struck date. However...being a CC coin doesn't necessarily mean well struck either. An example is 1880. The 1880-CC was a coin with a wide range of strike quality...there were some well struck examples and some very poor one's.
Significant wear on the cotton bolls and edges of leaves on obverse.. reverse..wear on breast, neck and talons.. VF30
VF25 in my opinion. And somebody took great pains to clean that coin and not leave tell-tale signs of it. They were not successful.
I agree with GD a VF25 alot of wear in the breast area the focal point of the coin. JC Formerly jazzcoins Joe
Coin was a flipper. Did well on it. : ) I purchased it at VG Bid because of the cleaning. I think the VF is correct on the grade of it in hand but it has been cleaned and that whacked the price as far as I am concerned. Sold it to a dealer.
