I started a post about this whole great time, or more like a commercial I think. Great pics, guys. I will post some of my pick-ups after I take photos. Snaz was real jazzed about his 21 S XF Lincoln and his Candadian cents and that was inspiring. Can't say how the "Market" seems. I didn't see many deals, but I was not really paying attention to that aspect. So much fun.

Snaz, I bet you were able to get some really good deals on the Canadian Coinage... If I would have known you were going I would have taken some leave and tried to make it.

AJ.. I wish I could have made it!! Sounds like you guys had a blast. If you make it to St. Louis this summer, we will have to go to the casino. Tom

ok, awake from my crash on the couch when i finally got home, excuse my broken shift key as usual...

mark and i have decided to fly into long beach from now on, that 6/7 hour drive is too much for these old men. it's an hour flight and a rental car from now on.

before i forget, that hollywood sign pic has a story to it....

we were up near the top of the hollywood hills, and at my fav picture spot, it was bottlenecking from tourists, so i parked in the street and kept it running......no sooner than i snap the picture then out of a gated residence comes a black lincoln navigator......i jumped into my truck and moved it so the lincoln could pass and get on their way...the driver thanked me with a thumbs up.....it was paul sorvino the actor, snaz did not recognise him but magman and mark did....he played paulie in goodfellas and always seems to find his way into mobster films

anyways, this long beach trip was very memorable and a blast. i did less coins than ever before, but had more fun as well. i really look forward to the next one. i'll also be in ontario ca with charmy in 2 weeks, then the ana in august, then lb again in sept, so southern ca will be home a bunch for marks and i.

over and out gang, this old man is beat tired still and ready for a sleep in my own bed.

Hey guys, it was great reading this string and all your adventures at the show and in Hollywood! I too am "old-lady tired" from the show, the partying, etc. Then yesterday was my dad's birthday so my family and I drove to Oxnard (1 hour north of LA) and spent the day there. So I'm just now catching up on some rest and the forum posts.

It was sure fun meeting Snaz and Magman, what nice, friendly and savvy young boys you are! (Sorry, I sound like a mom, don't I.) I had already met and done business with Boss and Acanthite in the past, but it was sure great seeing them again. Boss really impressed me with his knowledge of chemicals and lacquered coins, and it's always a pleasure seeing collectors with young families who still manage to collect coins in spite of all the hardships that come with raising young children - way to go Boss! And Acanthite is such a quiet and meticulous collector - I'll bet he has a pretty amazing collection!

Besides meeting all the young CoinTalkers and playing poker with them (photos to come!), the highlight of my show was showing off all of my slabbed private collection Indian and Lincoln cents for the first time - I brought them to the show to give to Todd to photograph. He also was returning the first group of my coins that he had finished photographing. I've never brought out my personal collection before because, honestly, it really didn't matter to me what others might think of my coins because I collected particular coins to please me. But I have to say I sure got a kick out of seeing everyone oooh and awww over my own coins! I'll be sure to post some photos when I get them from Todd.

Before I get to the poker game, I want to publicly thank Mark and AJ for treating us all (and I mean ALL - Rick, Karin, Tony, Magman, Boss, Acanthite, Snaz and me) to dinner at Rock Bottom before the big game - that was a real treat and a lot of fun, and very generous of Mark and AJ! Now the poker game - what a blast! First of all, AJ presented us all with a pair of Raymer eyeball shaded sunglasses! It was a hoot and everyone looked hilarious in them. Everyone bought in for $100 and we played $1-$2 limit Texas hold em. I have to say that, although Rick gave me a couple bad beats, I had the most fun messing with Mark (Mark, I hope you had as much fun beating me as I had going up against you!) And Acanthite was one of those very quiet unassuming poker players that stay under the radar and you take for granted - that is, until you see him rake in all your chips! And Magman was sort of that way too - very quiet with a sweet smile, especially when he turned over the winning hand. And good ol Snaz was very quick witted and outlasted Magman and Ancanthite, staying until the wee hours of the morning to play with us old folks. He was even kind enough to help poor bleery eyed AJ when it was his turn to deal.

As far as I can remember, we ended up playing til around 1:30 am and in the end, I think Brad did pretty well when he cashed out, and Mark, Rick and I also won a few bucks. Luckily, I had made prior arrangements to stay with Rick's assistant, Karin, at the B&B so thank goodness I didn't have to make that hour drive home that night! I can tell you, however, this old lady was sure dragging on Saturday and when I got home from the show, I fell asleep at 8:00 pm!

As far as the show goes, I was steadily busy with friends and customers at my table, but I think people are much more careful with what they buy now. My sales were not as strong as usual, but I did make some great purchases. I picked up some nice PCGS circulated Indian cents, a lot of nice raw high end Indian cents that I sent to PCGS for grading, and even received several nice coins on consignment from various customers. So even though I didn't sell as much as I usually do, I made up in being able to buy some nice coins.

Any way, this was one of the more fun shows I've attended - all thanks you great CoinTalk people! I look forward to being able to get together again - as AJ said, he and I will be at the Ontario show later this month, so I hope some or all of you can stop by our tables there, and perhaps have dinner together and play some more poker!

Ok, here are a couple of photos of us playing poker at the B&B! That's AJ and Rick in the first photo, and then on the 2nd photo from left to right back row is Tony and Snaz, bottom row is Mark, AJ, Charmy, and Rick (new rival to KISS's Gene Simmons!), the last photo is Mark AJ, Charmy & Rick.

We had a great time playing poken and AJ made sure the host won. Thanks!

I tried to buy that photo from Charmy but she wanted WAY too much money for it.

We'll do the poker game again next time. No lizzard glasses though.

I simply implied that I could lose that KISS photo if his 1877 MS65 RB happened to end up in my collection - didn't think that was asking too much, was it?

I posted but the BB phone killed it. Great post Charmy- thanks for your very nice compliments and I learned a lot from you!! Thanks for spending several hours with me at your table (or at least it seemed). Rick was very generous with his time as well.
