Mint site down for "routine system maintenance" on the day they release clad mint set

Why would they schedule "routine system maintenance" on the day they are releasing the clad mint set? are they on drugs?

Its not really maintnance, they just shunt the incoming catalog page requests to that page rather than just holding you waiting for your turn ( which doesn't come often). they are swamped. I hear that the mint may come under the new Government Motors management.

That's also not even the right time period. I think they just got overloaded, I haven't been able to get on since 12:25.

 

Curious indeed. I think the site was overwhelmed with traffic (understatement). It wasn't this difficult to order the UHR.

 

That is messed up that the day of a major set release, they have to do "maintenance".

Anyone getting orders in over the phone?

 

I was not able to get on until some time after 12:05...
If I wanted the proof set, I would have ordered, and had perfect chance, things were going smoothly, but I decided not to order one...
And yes, the mint are heavy drug users

I hate ordering over the phone for the simple reason that I like having a record of everything that I order from the mint. Everything that I've ordered from them since 2001 is kept in my order history. Phone orders don't appear in my on-line order history.

 

Catalog site is back up as of this writing.

 

the four pennys in this set is copper i hope thats why i got some.

 

Took only five minutes at 7:30 pm Eastern to order and confirm 3 proof sets ...
