About 5 years ago on eBay, I was the high bidder on a 1995 Prestige Set for $98.00 which I was very pleased with, until the seller responded that he had accidentally posted a set he no longer had. He offered to instead send a 1996 Prestige Set. I had just purchased a 1996 Set from a dealer for $110.00, so I said ok (I had already paid for the auction). I later got a 1995 Prestige Set from a dealer for about $112.50 (I was a little miffed at the time for having to pay more than the apparent win on eBay). As the years go by, I am happier and happier with the seller's mistake.
Haven't been able to get a 'steal' on ebay but for whatever reason I decided to start collecting the proof sets when the state qtrs came around and got a 1999 silver and clad set from the mint. Pretty good growth on the silver so far.
I just got a great deal on ebay and thought I would tell y'all here.... You remember the mint medals that were minted in 2003 with wildlife on them...eagle..duck...elk...well I got a eagle medal in the mint packing for $25.63...I have been seeing them sell for around $50-$59.00 on ebay and on dealers websites!!! I don't know why I bid...I don't collect medals but I think it was because I hunt...I'll never get to hunt a eagle I'm sure but they are soo neat...I have seen one flying free in a state park...sooo neat! and then I have seen others too. I purchased 2 Proof sets 1962 & 1963 so I could have the lincolns for my dansco album. They were both unopened and in perfect shape for $12.00 a piece, the lincolns did not have cameo but the half dollars were really nice. I sent them both into ANACS and the 1962 came back PR 67 CAMEO and the 1963 came back PR 66. Not bad for a $24.00 investment.
Wow...you got a good deal on the halves...too bad this contest is over...you had a good "steal"! Speedy
