I've brought four coins from the Perth mint as an investment thinking like the redback they will all increase in value but will they who knows, these coins are "The 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall""200 Years of the Australian Post" and two coins in the "Famous Battle in History" series so what do you think $400.00 Aussie dollars down the drain or a cool investment oh and all but the Post coin are Tuvalu Dollars.
I'v only seen one of these coins posted here sofar so I'll post a few photo's just to show you what the rest of them look like.

The first three coin all have the same obverse.

The "Berlin Wall" is a beauty... and what an awesome event to commemorate.

Who can forget ? It happened about the time my youngest daughter was born. There was some FUNK goin' down in those days.

Next, they should commemorate the man with the biggest huevos of the 20th century - Lech Walensa, world hero.

I really don't know how any coin will do as an investment , but for pure collecting fun I like these coins a lot , especially the Berlin Wall coin , but the others are cool too , and to me that's all that matters . Beautiful coins .

These are all beautiful coins. I too have some colorized coin sets from the Perth Mint (not the same as yours) and love looking at them. But I don't consider them investments.

Although I've seen my sets recently on eBay going for as much as $50 more than I paid, I wouldn't sell for such a small gain. Now, if I had bought 100 sets...........:)

Side note - If you are into Berlin Wall coins, this one may be interesting too. Not from Australia but from France; commemorates the same occasion. This http://boutique.monnaiedeparis.fr/intershoproot/eCS/Store/imgprod/produit/recto/10041257560000.jpg is the €50 gold coin; there is also a €10 silver coin and €200, €500, €1000 gold pieces, all in this style.

The coin is from the Europa series, so the other side (again the same for all denominations) has the usual Europa http://boutique.monnaiedeparis.fr/intershoproot/eCS/Store/imgprod/produit/verso/10041257560000.jpg design.

I think these coins are more of a collector type coin as opposed to an investment coin. As a collector, you should buy what you like. As an investor, you buy silver (and gold) at the lowest cost. In that case buying and ETF such as SLV (Silver ETF) or GLD (Gold ETF) is a better way IMO to profit from gold and silver prices. The buy/sell spread on physical gold and silver will kill any profit you might have had or at best you will have a very small gain after you factor in the buy/sell spread.

Let's start a list of the best investments available these days. My own top choices, in no particular order:
    • Nigerian bank stocks
    • Colorized coins
    • Irish Sweepstakes tickets

I agree with 900fine 100%. But I also think all the coins are very nice and as an investment is good too. They will all go up in value one day.

Don't think that Lech Wałęsa will be depicted on an actual coin these days; after all he is alive and well. The same applies to people like Michail Gorbachev or Gyula Horn who, in one way or another, contributed to overcoming the division of our continent. But the 1989 events are of course commemorated on Polish coins from this year ...

These coins are all issued next week. If it has to be something with a Wałęsa portrait, well, there is this from Gdańsk:

Not a coin, but local "money" that you can buy and either keep as a souvenir or spend in several stores in the city.
