LOL - that is funny. He used the same technique to do the reverse picture on the dollar. What a joke.

They don't make it real easy to find, and for some reason I have never been able to get a direct link to it to work. But if you follow this link

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-coins.html

and then go down to the bottom of the page to where it says Contact Customer Support
and click on Report it will take you there. It is specifically for reporting coin auction fraud, you can report up to ten auctions at a time and you get 10,000 characters for describing in detail what the problem is. And if you expect to be taken seriously it really does help to be specific. Don't just say a coin is fake, tell they how you can tell it is fake. In the case of this 1797 dollar you can explain that there are several different varieties for this year but not a single one of them comes with nine stars on the right hand side. (Or whatever it is, it's been a day or two since I looked at the auction.)

Thanks, found it late last night, took about 30 minutes of poking around. Saved this link that works for me, see if it works for you. I had to be signed in to get it to work.
    http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ContactUs&wftype=213a7651ffe03d58&rcode=c7d8e9c4b298eff616b2159d03a4ea35&subject=1bebaaaf5a42a226871a48fcc33a46b6&bcrumb=e8cea7277b0917a50ef5c3a5fdc7798ad2121b821e20c38c6122f1d922c3ee1fd2b424eeb9b05eafa8ee15181b6f3136de2a5159c403d55f1d5c3d0d55b3d96ba6064a34a3cdeef42a92b3659b5df18a

I pointed out the weight discrepancy, stars, potential value of a genuine 1797 in that condition, surface issues, no known planchet varieties from 1796 to 1797, etc., and provided a reference (Page 425) of Breen's Encyclopedia that they could refer to for confirmation. (on line Breen Encyc. is currently not available) I see the listing is still active.

    Update 5/31

OK ladies and gents, boys and girls, it's update time

As of 5/31 @ 1700 hrs. we are seeing a total of 5 bids from 4 different bidders. Current bid is $48.00 And (wait there's more) a revised listing. The seller has added:

MANBRD I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS COIN MAY OR MAY NOT BE REAL. IT HAS THE CORRECT WEIGHT IT HAS NORMAL WEAR MARKS FOR THE YEARS AND IT HAS THE CORRECT INSCIPTION ON THE EDGES.SO IT'S UP TO YOU. I THINK AFTER ALL THE READING I'VE DONE ON THIS COIN YOU WILL FIND OUT THERE WAS ALOT OF CONFUSTION GOING ON AT THE TIME ABOUT THE STARS.AND IT IS QUITE POSSIBLE THAT THIS COIN WAS STAMPED ON THE WRONG PLACHET!!! THERE ARE OTHER LIKE THESE THAT ARE 1779/8 WITH IS A PLACHET MISTAKE ALSO.SO REAL OR NOT IT IS SILVER AND WIEGH'S 26.6 GRAMS.YOUR CHOISE

The title has been changed also to indicate that this coin is a 1797 on a 1798 (not 1796) planchet. It's still a fake.
