Why didn't he post mintage figures??? I'm not willing to bid unless I know what that number is. Oh, 96 million of these? Aah. I think it'll be cheaper to get one in change. :goof:
lol, guess not. That's a lot of coins. If that's the case though, why do people get newer coins? I just don't see the point (I'm sure there's something about them though) maybe to get it in perfect condition cheaper then hold on to (like the bicentennial Lincoln)?
Nobody has seen these coins, people are calling them rare and key dates, and hoarding them if they do see them If you, or anybody else has one, I'd strongly recommend selling them
NO, NO, NO. That's the nickel mintages. The dime mintage is 96 million for P's right now and like 49 million for D's.
ah, I see, nice. Right now it's "rare" but time may change that, especially w/ the amount minted. Selling would be good, makes sense, turn 10 cent into $$. On that note, I wonder what the affect would be if a millionaire started hoarding a certain yr of penny to make value go up, then slowly sell of at high dollar, wonder if they would make a profit? This would be kind of eccentric though, but if they got each penny for 1 cent, 96 million of them would be less than 100k. I'm sure they make more pennies than dimes though (96 million whas the amount noted for the dimes minted in this thread)
Here is the correct mintage, and thanks for pointing that out! 2009-P 96.5 Million 2009-D 49.5 Million
I don't think it should be considered an investment to load up on them. But rolls of even the regular mintage years from just a few years back go for 8-10 per $5 face value roll. This year I will put a few 2009 certified business strike single dimes aside as they come available. Has anyone actually kept track the prices of certified Business Strike ms67 and ms68's of not just dimes but all denominations since they switched to the satin ones in the mint sets? Ms67-68's are quite cheap and plentiful in the satin versions but in the business strike versions they are quite rare and go for a bunch on eBay. I believe we've got some sleepers in the business strikes. Just my humble opinion.
There's nothing "rare" about these coins. A "rare" coin is something like the 1804 Dollar or a 1933 Double Eagle. Just wait and you'll see plenty of these in your change. I suppose some people have to be first on their block to get something so that's the reason these are selling on eBay. These are very common coins that simply haven't made it into wide circulation yet....
They're not rare, but I'm glad I have some. And THANKS T$, for posting that before my auction closes.....grrrrrr.....lol With 49 minutes left, it is up to $32.27 (meaining someone bid it up from last night). Here's the amazing thing. Views 1423. Watch List 106. I'm a happy camper.....
I applaud you! If you have something and are willing to sell it at a higher price than you paid and if you have a willing buyer, well, that's good old-fashioned capitalism.
this price run up is simply fear speaking. People are afraid that they won't be able to get these, that the Mint won't make more, and that they will be on the outside looking in. Truth be told, they will probably be very common later in the year, and God forbid the Mint starts making more in October!!! Can you imagine if they do that??? Push the mintage up over 1 billion??? people would be jumping off of their roofs!!! In the mean time... sell sell sell them!! It's like hitting the lottery!!!!
It sold for $49.02 + $1.00 shipping. What possesses someone to bid $50 on a circulated dime from the current year? I don't understand it. I'm pleased, obviously, but dumbfounded.
