this mystery coin. I found it in Denmark, but it looks mongolian or smthn like that.

I have looked through huge world catalogues, but I haven't gotten lucky yet?

Have any of you got an idea as to where this coin is from and if its worth anything?

    Best regards

    It's Ethiopian.
    What's the diameter?

It is exactly 4 cm in diameter.

I believe that would make it an Ethiopian 1 Birr.
    A silver Crown sized coin.

    Great man!

    How would you grade it?

Can you tell me more about it? Like when it is from and maybe if its worth anything?

I'm not too good at grading foreign coins, but I suppose it's in very good condition with some serious rim problems.

I believe these were struck from 1901-1904.

Yes, they do have a collector value.
    Nice find!

Magnus, this 1 Birr was struck during the reign of Emperor Menelik II (1889-1913).It is similar in size to the Maria Theresa 1 Thaler restrikes, which also circulated in Ethiopia at the same time.

    Magnus,
Only someone who wanted to buy that particular coin would be able to tell you exactly what it's worth.

If you would like an estimate, I would say somewhere in the $30-$40 range, but that's just a guess.

All the above is right. The Krause 2004 catalogue shows it minted in 1901,03 or 04 and it is listed at $12.50 in fine but this is a lower grade so it is probably worth silver value only.It is a one ounce coin of .7537 silver so about $5.50
