As I had posted earlier, I am starting my own website and I just want to get your opinions on what you guys would like to see on it.
I think that giving the public what they want is important.

I did nix the idea of no pictures for commons and today I found a better website builder that will make it easier for me to cater to the buyers.

I plan on specializing in wheat cents but will have all types of US coins.
I now plan on if possible, having several varieties of the same date and mint mark as will as a good range of dates and conditions.

I will eventually add world coins as soon as I am more comfortable with them.

I really need your opinion on finding a way to set the values on coins that is fair or both the buyer and seller. I have seen many sites that seem to be gouging the buyers.

I have been trying to stay below book as much as I can. Of course there will be times that I may have a higher priced coin on there because of my purchase price. This will mainly be for the rarities.

It seems like settling on a general markup above what you paid might be simplest.... if you're getting them for maybe something in the range of the blue book values then you can pretty much double what you paid and still be slightly under book value....

It is going to take a little time to get it set up. I will let you know when I get it ready to go live.

I think that having fair prices is the key. I would rather have the coins selling for less (while still making a profit) and sell alot, than have higher priced coins and sell a few. I think I would have more repeat customers that way.

Very true, I was using the doubling as an example, If you just marked up maybe 20% (bought for 10 cents, sold for 12 cents) you'd still be giving gret deals, and making a little cash. Sell 100 coins that cost you a dollar for $1.20 and you've cleared $20 already....

I gotta learn to proofread, sometimes I am just not clear enough.... ;)

Very true makes sense, as long as you make a fair enough profit for your time and effort. It is very smart to sell just under to create a lot of appeal towards your site. Also take into account what Your Time is worth and take that into consideration when pricing your items....Can't wait to see..What are you using to write your script? Dreamweaver...(mac or windows) I am all mac

The lowest I will be able to go is 40 or 50 cents just based on the fee the company I am getting the shopping cart from charges- 30 cents plus 2.5%
Also paypal has similar fees. I will just make sure the coin is worth it.
