    1 Dinar : What country issues that coin?

    Also, I have a 1972 10 Centimos from Costa Rica. The reverse says
    "America Central" and "BCCR" is stamped at the bottom. Was this coin minted by the U.S. Mint?

    Thanks for your answer.

    1 Dinar could be Algeria, Bahrain, or a dozen other countries. A picture or more complet description would help.

    BCCR means it was minted in Philidelphia, so yes it was minted by the US Mint.

    I can't furnish a picture, but it is shinny white aluminum looking, dated 1953, and the one side has 4 torches (like the olympics) inside a circle of wheat with a Star on the top of the circle of wheat. There are not keys on my keyboard to spell the words written around the inner rim. I am no world traveler, but guess it to be some Russian type language.

    Your 1 Dinar look Like this

    1 Dinar (Aluminum) : 1953 Obverse: Six torches in center as one, wheat stalks around and star above, 29.XI.1943 on banner. Reverse: 1 below semi-circle of seven stars, 1 DINAR 1953--
    Yugoslavia

    BCCR=Banco Central Costa Rica

    At one time Costa Rican coins were minted in the US. To my knowledge, now they are issued from the mint in Costa Rica.

    Actually, I correct myself before 1962 if it had BCCR on it, it would have been made in Philidelphia but since the date is 1972 it would be made in the San Jose Mint. Didn't look at the dates, thanks for pointing this out acanthite.:eek:
