If this guy wasn't a scammer, this is the only other explanation. Found this item in the similar items box above the listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180361522042&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX&refitem=250427499741&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget&_trksid=p284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%252BP%252BS%252BIA%26itu%3DFICS%252BUFI%252BUA%252BIA%252BUCI%26otn%3D4%26ps%3D10 The token is the size of a quarter, too
Just another person, out to scam somebody... Good thing nobody bid... We need to put a stop to scammers like this
Yes Abe Lincoln has been on the quarter. He's on the IL state quarter. But no he was never on the quarter in 1865. (He was on some pattern nickels that year.) Hmmmm auction has no pictures. How much you want to bet he has one of those dollar sized fake Washington quarters. They have an 1865 date on them.
Collectors usually aren't taken in by such false representation, but if a novice collector bought the misrepresented coin and discovered that fact later, the hobby would have lost a key to its future survival. Many times I see eBay ads promoting a coin as "silver" when it's really copper-nickel. I usually e-mail them to the fact that denomination was never struck in silver and explain their error. Some eBay Sellers thank me, others castigate me and call me a liar...(their ignorance) Clinker
Reminds me of the time a guy was selling 1943 Steels and described them as brilliant Red. I emailed him and asked if he meant White and he emailed me back and screamed in CAPS " Red is not a color, it is a descriptive term for high quality coins". I left it at that!
