What do sellers hope to achieve by AT'ing blatant problem coins

    They're banking on any toning helps to sell a coin and this coin will be no exception.

    He sure has a lot of raw coins with questionable toning.

    If you read the blogs, you will understand why he does it. There are people will buy most anything with color, real or not. As for the 1879-CC, it’s only EF-AU with coat of AT. He wants about ten times what it’s worth.

    @johnmilton exactly, and I feel the value has gone down due to the AT job.
