hi there i bought this coin about a year back it was in a box of old coins, all i know is it is a crown, can anyone shed any light on it,where it originates,a possible price, they are scanned pics so the marks on it are just from me handling it.
Maybe its some type of pattern. As far as I know there were no crowns made for his early coinage. But I am leaning more towards is not being real.
Apparently it is a pattern engraved by Wyons, creator of the St. George & the Dragon scene on so many coins of Great Britain. One was sold at a Goldberg auction last year (from the date I think it was the pre-Long Beach auction), but I'm not a member of this site, so I can't see the hammer price.
It's a pattern fantasy piece: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=400051634164 I've been seeing them on Ebay for some time now. Ribbit
