Hello all What's everyone going to get two rolls?? or two bags???? and why ... I've started going after the bags... the coins might be more "beat up" and nicked but they are priced better....
I'm not getting either... I don't care for any of this year's quarters...And don't intend on buying any, to keep that is If I do buy some, it'll be the last quarter reverse, and it will only be because the each of the other quarters before it, had a decreased mintage each time
I don't much care for those quarters either, in fact, I've pretty much gotten tired of the whole state quarter program in general, and now their going to force the national parks quarters on us starting in 2010. My interests lie more in the pennies and nickels, in fact, the only 2009 coinage I think I'll try and get are the nickels and dimes, and even than, if I acquire those ones, it'll be as a result of roll searching, I'm not willing to pay a premium over face value for any 2009 coinage. In fact, the only coins I'm willing to pay a premium over face value for is silver coins, wheat pennies and other obsolete coinage I just happen to be interested in, but not 2009 coinage, the only exception to that is if I just happen to find enough people looking for 2009 coinage to make it worth buying rolls of 2009 nickels or dimes from dealers, but as a part-time dealer myself, I'd only be willing to pay $3 to $3.50 at most for a roll of 2009 nickels or $6 to $7 at most per roll of 2009 dimes if I just happen to find enough demand for 2009 coinage, otherwise I'd prefer to stick to roll searching
WOW! You and I are on the exact same brain wave... I hate the 09 quarters...And hate the idea for the quarters for the next twenty years with all that national park stuff. I don't want to pay any premiums on 09 coins, I WANT TO BE THE ONES GETTING PAID THOSE PREMIUMS.. I'd rather spend my money on a graded morgan, then a two roll set of log cabin pennies..
Yep, after the State program, which I loved and thought was cool, the territories for 09 I though was a bit much, but now the National Parks, well, it just totally turns me off. I think it is way overkill. I don't want to have to collect all of those. So, I decided, I'll just do it through circulation and if I end up with scratched up fines, vs. BU, I just don't care....
I just have one set of state quarters, DENVER MINT...That is all I don't even want to collect the 09's, or any other quarter from now on BRING BACK THE WASHINGTON QUARTER EAGLE REVERSE
I haven't purposely purchased any of the state quarters (have gotten a few included in large lots), but I am attempting to purchase the last 6. I did pick up a couple of the Puerto Rico bags and rolls, and I plan to purchase the others. For me, it's purely a speculative move. I think these coins are going to have lower mintages, and I hope to recognize a profit. If I don't see them moving upward in price, I'll probably dump them at or near what I paid for them. I don't usually play this game, but the relatively low mintage of the Puerto Rico quarter made me think. I believe these will be popular in Puerto Rico, not to mention everyone here who wants to finish their collection.
I'll be buying the rolls just cause I have a personal preference for rolls over bags. Even if the Mint goes roll crazy on these, they will hold their value because of the low mintages. I will collect the National Park quarters if they have good designs. However, I don't see how this theme can inspire any creative designs, so I'm not optimistic.
I agree, I don't see how any creative designs can come out of the national parks theme either, I think is was chosen due to pressure from the extreme environmentalists who want to control everything in our lives from the designs on the money we use to lightbulbs we use to grade our coins, which as most of you should know, the best lightbulbs to use for grading coins are 75 watt incandescent lightbulbs whose production are going to be banned in the United States by 2012. Having to use floresents to grade coins is going to make it alot harder to grade coins
Oh, please. It passed the House 419 to 0, and then passed the Senate by unanimous consent (and then signed into law by Bush). edited Most of the politicians' comments on the bill was that they favored it because it would honor America's treasures, and because they thought it would make money for the Treasury (as the state quarters program did). Other than coin collectors complaining that it was too much, the public was fairly apathetic about the legislation. Here's an article from CoinNews about it.
Now, getting this thread, somewhat back on track...These quarters might have lower mintages than the state quarters, but are not worth buying...Anything with millions being made, will never be a rarity...Just like the 09 pennies..These are just a fad now, wait until they get into circulation... So, back to the original question, nope, I'm not buying any quarters from the mint, unless mintages drop drastically up to the last reverse, in which case I'll get a two roll set of that last reverse
Well I think if they would have stayed, it would have offended a lot of members. Me and coinman_ben both got our point across, and there is nothing we can about it now. We'll just see how this all plays out
