Has anyone any ideas about this note - does it seem to be genuine? The rear of the note is blank but I seem to remember that the old white fiver was blank at the rear. Any help would be appreciated. Ian
This is one of the few banknotes that are regarded as being truly British. It is a Treasury note that was issued in the period of 1914-28.This has the signature of John Bradbury, who was the Secretary to the Treasury. Aidan.
Thanks Aidan - that's just the information I needed. I intend putting it on one of my display boards with various coins found during my hobby of metal detecting. We have an annual hobby display each March where the general public can visit, it does generate a lot of interest locally. Many thanks once again, Ian
Ian,I am pleased that I was able to help you.I am a specialist collector of coins & banknotes from across the British Commonwealth.British Isles banknotes are of interest to me. Aidan.
