I have a 1971 D Lincoln cent that is missing the FG initials. The coin is in descent shape and there are no marks on the area where the initials should be so I'm pretty sure they are just not there. Does a coin like this have any value? Would it be possible for the initials to wear off without leaving any marks?

I have tried to get some pics, but I can't seem to get a handle on using the macro function. The pic always comes out blurry. I'm going to try and figure it out and hopefully will get a pic posted.

Try placing one or more magnifying glasses over the coin, then using the highest macro function on the camera. I've been able to bring out details I don't think I could otherwise.

The initials probably just got filled with grease when it was made...so there probably isn't any added value. But, a pic would be helpful.

I'm still trying to get this macro function down. I don't have a good magnifying glass and my camera is a point and shoot not a DSLR. As of now, this is the best pic I could get but hopefully I will get a better one.

I have a 1989 that is missing the FG. This is a common error from being struck thru grease and has no premium value.
