from the photo supplied, I would hope not. excuse me , i meat to say , I don't know why not!!! I surely should. my typing is backwards again today for some reason
Why not? In has nice luster, a pretty good strike, blazing luster, and minimal bag marks for a silver dollar. I don't see why it wouldn't go 65.
I don't know if I can give a definite grade of 65 on this one...But it has a good chance of grading 65..
Matchmaker, You didn't specify who would be grading it. I would go MS64 for PCGS or NCG, and quite possibly MS65 ANACS and ICG. My personal opinion. Jim
I am good at coin photos, but I am not good at capturing luster. This coin has a blazing glowing luster. I wish I knew how to get that to show up in the pics of coins that I take. Did you all notice the die break near the botoom of the neck?
Yeah. I tried looking up the VAM but the only one I could find with that has a little different die break and also has a die gouge in the hair. Yours also has a die chip on the reverse between the D and S in united and states.
http://www.vamworld.com/1922-P+VAM-7 I think the eagle's wing looks sorta odd, and some of the leaves do look doubled... You might have this VAM
I think you are right, with mine being an earlier die state than the one in the link. THe crack is bigger there and I dont have the "hair pin" feature.
But look at the 2F example die break and the OP's die break. The 2F on vamworld is more jagged looking.
But the shape and location are in the exact same spot. So its more jagged because it is more progressed IMO.
You're probably right. I find it stupid that they don't show the reverse even though a VAM is a combination of the obverse and reverse dies. There is no way to know if the die chip is on the example. If it is, then you have a finest known (well one other) example of the hairpin variety in an earlier die state.
