Has anyone seen these yet? Someone knowledgeable on these please speculate the collectability please.
I haven't been able to get the new Nickels& Dimes through my usual sources but they both generally go for 25 -30 cents a piece retail in BU condition. Granted their mintages so far are nothing in comparison to the Penny.
I've seen the log Cabin "Birthplace" ones. Unfortunately I am not able to get the D's. You'd think with over 200 mill of P's & D's (each) that they'd be every where.
where do you get those? None on Ebay: http://coins.shop.ebay.com/items/_W..._trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=11951 Right now I bet you could get $20 for a bu dime or nickel (or more). http://coins.shop.ebay.com/items/_W..._trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=11956
Not for $20 unless it was a certified business strike. I do check in the dime and nickel categories on eBay on a daily basis to see if one is posted.
No a raw one would easily bring $20 + simply because it would be the only one. It may bring several hundred.
I've seen quite a few 09 dimes, but no nickels so far. If they'll bring 20$ on the Bay, I may have to throw some on. Guy~
I'll have to throw one out there and see what happens. I have found about 4 2009 dimes. I'll let you know...
Why do I suddenly feel the need for a shower? *sigh* I guess there are ignorant people out there who will pay ungodly amounts for coins for one reason or another. I just think one should start low & see where it goes. You will be able to get them sooner or later. Where to get the coins on the USmint.gov website lists dealers they deal with. One I deal with all the time is on that list. It's Hauser's Coins.
I have only seen the log cabin cent in circulation (D) and I live in Michigan, I thought I would only see the P's.
That probably just means that the dealer just hasn't gotten the chance to get any, after all, the mint, even though they've already minted some 2009 nickels and dimes, are no longer minting any more so they can focus on the pennies, quarters and presidential dollars, but more so the quarters and dollars than the pennies. I read in coin world that the mint did produce nickels and dimes this year, but that they also stopped after 5 months of production (i.e. earlier this month) and that mintage numbers for 2009 nickels and dimes are down quite a bit from 2008, but that they still made them.
