Found this in a roll last week. Haven't had a chance to share it until today. Have to wonder how long it has been circulating like this. Took quite a bit of experience to create such a well done and very small counter-stamp. Always fun to come across something like this! Tell me what you think or if you have seen one before. Wonder if the creator is a CT member?
you only need to find the other 49 to make a complete set back during the bicentennial year 1976 - some companies sold 50 pennies with each of the 50 states stamped in them to honor all the states i guess someone broke up the set :crying:
LOL - Not likely that I'll ever see another one in circulation. Too bad someone broke up the set, Would be neat to own all 50! Have 2x2'ed this one and will put it with the rest of my cents. Thanks for the info!!! BR ~ Darryl
So what was the point of the state quarter program???? Why couldn't the US MINT have done this on coins themselves... Would have saved us ten years of collecting some quarters in change...
That's funny, I just saw a whole set at one of the local coin shops....the coins were all 76 or before of course.
Any idea of the company that made them? Do your recall what the price on the set was? Just wondering...
