The only one that looks questionable to me is the 1849. IMO it is a really bad idea to buy big money coins raw off eBay.
I'm not sure how much I like the 1912 $2.5. Looks like a pretty considerable sized lump on the reverse.
Those are not big money coins. I only paid $118.50 for that dollar. ANd if they are bogus, I can get my money back through paypal or my cc company. There is really no risk.
Wouldn't it make more sense to determine genuineness before making the purchase? I'm retired, with a reasonably adequate income from social security, pension and investments, but I still consider $118 too much money to flush down the toilet.
Let me explain again. If I bought a fake, I didnt flush any money down the toilet. I will easily be able to force the seller to give me a refund. Its not the wild west on ebay anymore.
They all look alright to me...Nice buys.. I do not know what type of collector you are, but why not, save up all that money, and buy one really nice one... Quality not Quantity... And be VERY careful about buying RAW us coins... You could think you are buying a BU coin, and you'll get an AU cleaned example.. When it comes to classic gold I recommend buying it graded...
Nothing jumps out as being a fake to me. I'd have to wonder whats going on with the 1879 2 1/2 dollar reverse. Are those holes, pitting, or what? Guy~
The 1849 look kind of lumpy and weak to me. The others look genuine to me (no expert!) but the Indian head coins can be very difficult to authenticate because there are some extremely good fakes out there.
AS Lehigh would have said , "thats like buying a skunk at a flea market just to make sure it smells like a skunk.
In this day and age I don't buy raw coins, even if I have a refund guarantee. It's not worth the hassle of going through the refund process. And I leave the coins I buy in their slabs.
Not so sure about the 1912. Indian's cheekbone looks too high..lettering on reverse doesn't look right... I'm no expert..just my first impressions..
