I treated myself to this little coin a few days ago on Father's day.

It is lower grade, but overall pleasing example.

Is this an overdate? or a plain 1869? please comment on grade as well.

    Thanks,

    Eduard

It's kind of hard to see with these pictures. I suggest you buy loupes ;)

But I do see something in the 9 and the left side of the 8, but that could be crud or dust. Try and get better pictures, or buy some loupes! :D You can pick them up on eBay, or a local store, for a couple bucks ;)

Use digital macros setting on your camera and zoom on and post photos. Usually that overdate is more noticeable, but can't tell from photo. It is a nice coin.

    Hi,

I suspect it may be a 1869/1869 RPD Snow 2. My question is if there is a repunch of the upper serif slightly south of it, I can't tell from the photo. The "8" and the "6" look like the S-2. Other diagnostics on obverse is an outline of a "C" protruding from the forehead, and a die scratch for the rim through the " OF" .
