I treated myself to this little coin a few days ago on Father's day. It is lower grade, but overall pleasing example. Is this an overdate? or a plain 1869? please comment on grade as well. Thanks, Eduard
It's kind of hard to see with these pictures. I suggest you buy loupes But I do see something in the 9 and the left side of the 8, but that could be crud or dust. Try and get better pictures, or buy some loupes! You can pick them up on eBay, or a local store, for a couple bucks
Use digital macros setting on your camera and zoom on and post photos. Usually that overdate is more noticeable, but can't tell from photo. It is a nice coin.
Hi, I suspect it may be a 1869/1869 RPD Snow 2. My question is if there is a repunch of the upper serif slightly south of it, I can't tell from the photo. The "8" and the "6" look like the S-2. Other diagnostics on obverse is an outline of a "C" protruding from the forehead, and a die scratch for the rim through the " OF" . Jim
