I'm not a huge fan of eBay as a collector, but every once in a while there is a coin listed on eBay that is perhaps far better than the seller realizes, hence it is actually priced right and a pretty good deal. Case in point, the 1927 Austria 100 Schilling below. There are only two coins for the ENTIRE series that are attributed as DCAM. I now own half of them, and for a modest premium above melt! As cool in-hand as in the photographs. There is a die crack running parallel to the rim at 6 o'clock on the reverse. It's very thin, but when viewed with a loupe it looks like tectonic plates that have heaved and separated, the area near the rim noticeably higher than the surrounding fields. There's little doubt the die shattered not long after this coin was struck.
I don't do proofs, at least not like circulation issues. Here are a couple, and yes, they are older than me I sold one of the ones in the pics, I think the 1987. Either way, I have the pics.
Nice die crack, too. Would be cool if it went all the way around, almost like a perfect circle. It would look nice with that border design.
