Hey, so I had a few 43 steeles that had a lot of that blackish mucky stuff on them so i decided to soak them in Acetone for a little while, when they came out they looked like this....it doesnt rub/wash off what happened?
i don't know you know that like black coating that some pennies get where they are hard to see...thats what they looked like I AM SO CONFUSED, but on the bright side they look cool lol
The rust may have discoloured them. You have to learn to be paitent most people here are on different time zones and are not always online. Sometimes it could be days before soemone can answer.
It does look like rust coating over the steel. First thing I'd do to make sure is see if they're magnetic.
its not a rust they feel the same as any other wheatie, and i just tried them in an Salt+Vinegar solution looks the same leme know if u wnt me to re-upload
Heck people on ebay pay stupid prices all the time. Tell them this is what happened after a soak in acetone and you be the judge what they are. Basically the zinc is gone and the steel under it is visible Icewater
well i mean of course im not going to claim its a copper 1943 lol, I am not one of those guys i figured I would say very unusual tone and say w.e lol
Goldstone, You don't happen to be the guy with the Golden finger, are you? However, turning Steel to Copper could be quite profitable! Frank
Copper plated. Acetone and rust have nothing to do with this. If they don't stick to a magnet I'll change my mind.
