I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this one pound panda. its is .999 fine silver. I cant find anything about it anywhere online. I am curious on its value. Any help would be greatly appreciated
that's a fat panda! never heard of a pound issue before - maybe it's a private issued silver round, made to resemble a chinese panda?
I want to sell it but i cant sell something where i have no concept of value for it. It might be only worth the silver it is made of, or more since i cant find another one anywhere. It is rather perplexing.
I think you might get silver value but at the most I could see someone paying $10 for it...but thats about as high as I think it would go! Speedy
What does it weigh... in onces... Silver is not in pounds....its in troy ounces...and yes...a silver round of 1 ounce of silver might sell for $10...I'm not kidding. Speedy
That is true and false. As the coin shows and as i stated it is one pound silver not an ounce. One pound silver is known to be 1 troy pound of silver. A troy pound equaling 12 ounces.
ok....so...does it feel like your holding 12 ounces? If so...you would have about $120 in silver.... What I was saying is...that when you weight silver you don't weigh it in pounds...you do it in ounces...so I was thinking that the Co. that made it had messed up. About how big around is this...silver round...or token? Speedy

Most if not all big coins have one pound written on them. Those giant American eagles and Morgan’s "one pound fine silver" or "1 LB. fine silver". I have seen quite a few one-pound coins, but never a Panda one. That is why I wanted to know if anyone had ever seen one or could tell me more about it. American Eagle proofs I cant say are a dime a dozen but are in know ways a rarity. They are sold at $100 and up. Morgan’s get a premium over the Eagle at least from what I have seen. Even though the Panda has toned extensively it in my mind is a rarity since I have never seen one and may garner a higher price.
raxafarian - Yes your right i have seen that before, 1992 doesnt look like this one. If you look at the 1990 1 oz. silver panda that is it. Same images, but this clearly says 1992. I think it was limited under 10,000 because 0296 is on the side. It has one pound troy .999 fine silver on the other side.
Yes i know. It is like an American commemorative, but who would make a Chinese Panda commemorative. Maybe i should contact that website, maybe they would have an idea
Great Coin!!, if it was me, I'd keep it, it will only go up in value. The melt value will of course fluctuate but it will go up over the years. Stash it someplace and years from now you'll be glad you did!
Thanks Lincoln, I just wish i knew what it was...exactly. Havent gotten around to contacting that website mentioned earlier in the thread, they seem to have every panda, maybe they woould know what this one is.
