California Gold... are these real??

    They were gold and I was the one that bought them. :D I sold one to Mike Locke so that should say something. ;)

    As to the OP coins, I have been corrected by Mike. He says:

    All 4 pieces were made in Italy circa 1970. They are all gold plated brass. I have good documentation on these, although I don't have the manufacturers name or the exact year of production.

    So they are all recently minted and not worth much. :(

    Thanks for the answers on these. I have never been real sure as to what they were. I still have my gold eagles from 1998-2004 to look at in terms of gold. Wish I would have bought more of those when gold was so low in price.

    The green color is from the copper base of a plated coin. Base metal like lead have to be copper plated before the gold is applied. I have many old reproductions that show the same green color.
