I put in a request with a dealer in town that deals with world and anceint's for a 1838 Maundy set, perferably toned. He called me and offered me a 1882 Young head set in Ngc 65 to 66 for $800. (Pics will be posted when I get them if he can get them)

My question is what is a fair price as I can only find prices quoted for UNC. Is this within reason for an set of 82's?

If I get them I still want to get a 38 set! What is a realistic price for the 38's. TIA any suggestions will help

Seems pretty pricey to me for a set of '82s. An original set still in the original holder should be able to be had for about $200. And typically the coins are almost always 65 or better. Although I will grant you that coins that are from broken sets often suffer from rough handling and thus grade lower. But when I collected these sets I never once paid even $200 for a complete set.

The '38 set is priced a bit higher, but you should be able to find them for $300 or a bit less with some patience and research.
