It has been my experiance (of late) that it takes a month between ordering and having the package hit the front door. In past years it rarely took so long to fulfill an order.

This is what happens when you outsource in order to save money. Pitney Bowes was probably low bidder to handle the Mints shipping operations. Once they get the contract, they put in some low wage workers and turn a blind eye to quality control.

Exactly. Further, the Mint was probably pressured to do so. That happens a lot around these parts (I work in DC). That's why I cringe when I hear people yell at the mint. It's Pitney Bowes that's messing up. Yes, I know the Mint hired PB, but they may not have had much of a choice.

Suppose a husband wants to fix a sink, and the wife says, "no way, you can't do it well, hire a plumber" and a plumber comes in a messes it up. Do we blame the husband?

Granted - we should be complaining to the mint about PB's poor service, and, hopefully, when the contract is up for renewal, they can be dq'd on account of lousy service.

But, being a govt worker, it peaves me to hear, all the time, that "government can't do anything right, outsource it to the private sector", and then here is a case where govt *did* outsource it to the private sector, but the govt agency still gets blamed.

Just think.....we have 6 more months of Pitney-Bowes at least....:high5:

    THINK ABOUT THIS:
They are already 1 month behind.....Tyler $1's tomorrow, Proof Sets in 12 days, and then the Gold First Spouses 4 days later.

Do I want these folks handling my 1 oz Gold Eagles or Buffalos later this year....they will be worn to a frazzle.
