Does anyone know if PMG has a way to look up a graded notes identification number? I looked at the site, but didnt see anything that jumped out at me.

a couple weeks ago, i bought a note that was the top graded note of its kind. None finer, and it didnt share the spot with any others.

Well, the note came in today... and something about the note makes me think something is 'off'. The note in question is a $1 FRN. On a heavily circulated note i have, washington is going bald, but you can clearly see the 'receeding' hairline. On this note i have, graded 67 EPQ, washington looks fully bald! You can see the forehead, and then the hair on the back of his head.. but NO hair on top... just a blank white spot.

So now i am worried the note might be a fake.

I have fake notes in my collection that upon a closer look, you can clearly see where the note was a copy. On this note i just dont see evidence like that. Washingtons head is missing detail, but is not printed like you would see on a bad print job. To the left and right of the oval around Washingtons portrait, there are those leaves... and the leaves have a hatch pattern behind them... well on this new note, the hatch pattern in the background is nearly non-existant.

Please take a look at the note ... let me know if this is a normal 'underinking' or a fake note.... or even something else :)

also... is there a plce to look up PMG certificate numbers like you can with PCGS coins?

The note looks fine to me, great purchase BTW. Don't know about any look-up.

I'm pretty sure you can look up PCGS graded notes, but not PMG. In either case, I'm pretty sure one of the reasons the whole WEB press thing was abandoned was due to poor printing quality. This is probably just an example of that.

Thanks for the reassurance :) while i did get the note at what i think was a bargain, it would be all the more painfull knowing the seller is still laughing at me for buying a fake lol

It is late now, but i wanted to take out all my other web notes to look at similar 1988A notes to check for similar issues... will have to make a point to do that tommorrow.
