Found in change from Walmart. This is the first I've seen in circulation here in Georgia, and of course, it's a Philly mint. I was so excited you would have thought I'd found gold!
I've got 5 in change so far... All D's (In Texas) Each one is in it's own 1.5x1.5 flip... I have a sheet of 30 of them, 8 P's, and 22 D's... Sadly, with my grading, and comparing them to others, I think the highest grade I see is a 66... CONGRATS ON YOUR FIND
It's great to be excited. I was in the bank and asking the teller for this and that. He found some I wanted, had some BU DC quarters, had some nice single presidential dollars to fill holes in the album I've yet to purchase, and the teller next door looks at my face and says, "You are like a kid in a candy store!" To which I quickly agreed, "Why, yes I am." Congrats on the find. I have gotten about 5 now, but no D's, all P's.
Congrats! They are tough to find! Here in San Diego, I have gotten over 100 plus a roll - all "D"s, no "P"s yet... Had to go to ebay and pay 99¢ (free shipping) to get a "P"...
I talked to a gentleman the other day who works for Brinks. He told me that they are not making solid date rolls of the new cents. They are mixing them in with the cents that they recirculate and sending them to the bank. This apparently is on orders from the federal government, so I guess the only way to get solid date rolls is to buy them from the mint.
Got my 1st new Lincoln's this week (3 so far) in change! I thought they might be seen sooner here in KY. Even asked for a roll at the bank but they said they had yet to be issued any.
I got 8 rolls at a store in town last weekend and I believe they are full rolls. They have log cabins on both ends and my son got 4 cents back and all were log cabins from the roll they had opened.
That's what I'm going with Tmoney. I actually got 10 rolls, cleaned them out, but sold two at cost to my son who wanted two rolls. I plan on selling a couple of the rolls and keeping several. Bob
It is so strange that you are finding D's in Texas. I live in the Houston area and have found 5-6 single log cabins and 10 rolls and all are P's. Anyone want to trade a p for a d?
I bet a lot of the companies are...This weekend I'm getting a box of pennies... I will tell you what I find.
And it is strange you are finding P's!!!! We live so close to DENVER... Maybe somebody had a bunch of P rolls, and cracked them open, and put them into circulation down there
But the 6 P's I have found, plus the 6-7 more found by my budding numismatist 15 year old, have been found at different stores all through the area. One at Sonic, 2, at Walmart, etc. Pretty weird. I'm sure I'll get a D soon.... Meanwhile, I'm going through 400 dollars of quarters right now. About half way through and haven't found anything significant other than 3 bicentenials (big wup), and 3 Duke Ellingtons. Well, back to searchin....
Make sure the Duke Ellington don't have the RIDDLER error.. LOL That was so hyped a few weeks back...
I've found 2, both D's, both while roll searching. I'm a cashier, and still haven't seen any in my till. Also no '09 Nickels or dimes, but quite a few agri-bucks and DC quarters. Joe
I found several in change the past week or so here in Cape Girardeau. Just today I pulled out two D's and one P from the change drawer. Methinks that the flood gates will soon be opening. Now to get the next one in the series.
