I'm sorry to say my 1st thought was something doesn't look right , don't get me wrong it's has nice details but it looks like something was done to the surface , though it may just be the picture . rzage
Thanks for the comments. Here are some additional pics with less direct lighting. I know the coin isn't corroded or cleaned, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was dipped.
Really nice looking 1865. Absent any date re-cuts or reverse die cracks not showing in the pics my first guess would be a 4C. We need to hear from others on this. Well done :thumb:
Might have had an old cleaning and looks retoned (light Dellars?). Regardless a very attractive coin.
There are some small contact marks visible, as from what I can see, some mint luster left, and the motto, and other lettering of the coin, are in good detail, and are very clear The shield is in great condition! I've never seen one of these graded, and never seen one so nice before So first instinct is choice uncriculated... But I am thinking more along the lines of AU58 at a minimum, and MS62 being a max, maybe on a good day
I agree with Tmoney. Maybe AU 58 to low MS if they consider it has wear on WE on the obverse above the shield.
